Monster Products developed an Internet-connected “smart service” to connect their HTUPS (Home Theater Uninterruptible Power Supply) 3700 products. This smart-service application enables installers to remotely monitor products. Remote management adds up to significant savings for installers because the average truck roll to service an installed product costs $125. At the same time, remote management helps installers diagnose and solve customer complaints faster and sustain their business relationships with homeowners, leading to significantly improve customer satisfaction.

Working with Arrayent

Vern Smith, Monster’s Director of Business Development, said, “Over the years Monster has made use of various home networking schemes. We were searching for a way to connect our products to smartphones and tablets with much lower cost per connection and a faster installation process. The Arrayent IoT platform was the first to deliver all three.”

Monster chose the Arrayent Connect Platform to connect their line of Internet of Things smart plugs. At CES 2012 Monster announced its smart plug family of PowerCenters which work with the HTUPS line. These connect wirelessly to the Monster Power Control App through Monster’s Gateway GTW 100, which is based upon Arrayent’s very low cost residential gateway reference design.

With the combination of Monster’s plugs and the Arrayent Connect Platform, Monster users can track usage, reduce energy drains, and purchase additional and necessary Monster products as needed, all through the smartphone app.
