Today we announced the availability of our new EcoAdaptor for Nest. This is huge news for global brands and product companies that want to IoT-enable products and have those products work with other connected devices. It will enable interconnectivity among products and will help drastically reduce development and deployment time for Nest and the Works with Nest product certification process. Nest is a well-known and trusted brand in the IoT space. As a provider of home automation devices like thermostats, smoke detectors and security solutions, Nest is a major innovator in programmable, self-learning, sensor-driven, connected devices. A recent article in E-commerce Times highlights potential security issues that are caused when IoT products are not connected broadly. This negatively impacts the ability to share valuable information. Specifically, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has announced that it will begin sharing threat information with a small number of companies under the newly enacted Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act. In the article, Arrayent CEO Cyril Brignone explains how IoT silos prevent more information sharing. “The IoT is not consumer friendly,” he said. “Right now, all these IoT products are done in silos. Breaking those silos is key to the success […]
Despite years of connected product end-caps featured at Lowe’s and Home Depot, we are constantly surprised by the general lack of awareness about connected products, even among Arrayent partners and prospective customers. The good news is that times are changing. Last year Target went beyond the end cap to launch the Target Open House, an Apple Store-like experience that walks consumers though hero moment use cases room by room, and hands-on tables to touch and feel the product and app. These connected products are visually appealing and have instant recognition with early-adopters, but it’s when they can be experienced real-time […]
The Internet of Things is about a lot more than just turning things on and off through your smart phone. Convenience certainly is a major advantage, but so is security, peace of mind, and operating the various parts of your work and life with greater efficiency. Mobile apps are clearly major drivers in the growth of IoT, but the physical Web will use embedded tags to manipulate URLs and connect directly between the device and the Web. Yet, there’s that old saying that applies in the current IoT environment: to a man with a hammer (in this case, a smartphone), […]
The numbers and projections point to massive growth in connected products. There is virtually no argument around this forecast, and even the casual observer is now well-aware of the potential to acquire and user Internet of Things products in their homes, cars and just about anywhere they work and live. One of the key ways to truly gauge success of a new market element is through adoption, and this year we expect to see lower cost connected products drive a huge increase in IoT product adoption. With this, IoT will truly become a key ingredient of in the technology market. […]
Michael Eisner, the former CEO of Disney, once made the case for interesting design by saying, “You have to build it anyway. Why not make it beautiful?” Something similar could be said about consumer devices, since they are being built, why not just make them connected? Of course that all sounds good, but building connected products is not always an either/or proposition. When the opportunity is right, however, there is no doubt that connectivity opens new channels and markets for existing product manufacturers. Connectivity sets the expectation that products actually improve after initial purchase. This product improvement-in-place feature is enabled […]
The opportunity to Internet-enable all types of devices is vast and the potential financial rewards are huge. It seems that almost every company, be it one focused on consumers, the enterprise, products or services, is executing or developing on an IoT strategy. Arrayent specializes in solutions that enable consumer IoT, so we are keen observers and participants in how that market is progressing. We think the consumer IoT market opportunity is real. One doesn’t need to travel to CES to witness the products that can be managed and used through the Internet. A quick look around your local Lowe’s, Home […]

OSF Global Services is using the Arrayent Connect Platform as part of a unique, integrated CRM to IoT solution with Salesforce. In this video, OSF walks through a scenario where a customer of a web-enabled product is alerted to a potential issue, while the product’s customer service team is notified simultaneously. Arrayent provides the underlying platform that enables connectivity among the different players. Because Arrayent empowers smart products and systems connectivity, there is an easy connection that can be made with application vendors like Salesforce so they can deliver real-time support and even foresee possible problems before they arise. As […]
Tampa's "Daytime" television program took a trip to CES and in this segment, they highlight some of the more interesting products from the show. Included are two Arrayent customers: Febreze and Whirlpool. Frebreze Fresh was a huge hit at CES. The Internet-controlled scent delivery product not only provides a way to freshen up a home, but it works with other IoT products (through Thread Group-enabled connectivity) to create a home that is truly "guest-ready".
